E4 : FAQ About In-store Interruption Versus Battles

Q1 : What is Local Arcade Versus Battle / Extreme VS Mode?

An In-store Interruption Versus Battle is a versus battle between players using connections between two or more Wangan Maxi 5 drive cabinets using a network cable. If your interruption settings are set to "Welcome Interruptions," then you can have a versus battle even if you're in another race.

Q2 : How are 'Local Arcade Versus Battle' and 'Extreme VS Mode' different?

Local Arcade Versus Battle' is the mode that has been in the series up to now.
'Extreme VS Mode' is a new Local Arcade Versus Battle that has been added since 'Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 5'. It is a mode in which the courses run in the opposite direction to normal and you race with various information such as 'remaining distance' hidden. You can enjoy an extreme race that is exciting right up to the end. The type of race is decided by a majority vote from the participants.

Q3 : What is 'Vs Grade'?

VS Grade' is a new guide that indicates your Local Arcade Versus Battle strength.
When you collect 'VS Medals', which you can receive for your Local Arcade Versus Battle results, your 'VS Grade' increases based on the number of 'VS Medals' you have collected.

Q4 : How many people can join Local Arcade Versus Battle / Extreme VS Mode?

Up to four people can take part in a versus battle in Wangan Maxi 5.

Q5 : Can a third or fourth person interrupt when two people are in a versus battle?

A third or fourth person can interrupt even during a versus battle.

Q6 : When a third or fourth person interrupts when two people are in a versus battle, will they enter the race midway?

When a new interrupting player appears, the course, the time zone and all other selections are reset.

Q7 : What are the areas you can race in within Extreme VS Mode?

For its initial launch, the areas you can race in within Extreme VS Mode are restricted to the 'C1 Area' and the 'Osaka Area'. We plan to increase the number of areas in order with updates.

Q8 : What courses can you race on in Local Arcade Versus Battle / Extreme VS Mode?

After selecting the racing area, the drive cabinet will automatically decide the start location (start ramp) from those included in that racing area.

Q9 : Who determines the time zone for the versus battle?

The time zone for the versus battle is determined by majority.

Q10 : Who determines the BGM for the versus battle?

The BGM for the versus battle is set by the person who first set "Welcome Interruptions." When continuing in versus battles, the person who won first place in the previous race will set the BGM.

Q11 : "If all players step on the brake, then there will be no HP handicap" appeared when selecting the time zone, but what is an HP handicap?

The HP handicap is a system to relieve players who are really falling behind in order to make versus battles more competitive. The strength of the HP handicap is determined based on the number of that player's gauges. If you want a hardcore battle without an HP handicap, then when all players in the versus battle step on the brake pedal (the indicator will light up), it will become a "hardcore race" with no HP handicap.

Q12 : I got a star mark when I won. What is this star?

You'll get a star depending on your results when winning in versus battles. This star is called an "Outrun Star". The more Outrun Stars a player has, the stronger that player is in versus battles.

Q13 : I can't win an In-store Interruption Versus Battle.

Branch selections are the key to winning in In-store Interruption Versus Battles in Wangan Maxi 5. Going the way that is advantageous for your car's settings at branches, which you can choose when you're in first place, is the shortcut to victory. However, since you can't make selections at the branches when you aren't running in first place in the race, you've either got to get in first place before a branching point or think of how to continue the versus battle in an advantageous way for yourself.

Q14 : I lost some of my Outrun Stars. Why?

The rules for the increase and decrease of Outrun Stars are as follows:

Outrun Stars that can be earned per race

Race results 4-player race 3-player race 2-player race
1st ☆☆☆ ☆☆
2nd ☆☆ N/A
3rd N/A
4th N/A

However, the following rules apply for players who have 2,001 or more Outrun Stars:

Outrun Stars that can be earned per race (when you have 2,001 or more)

Race results 4-player race 3-player race 2-player race
1st ☆☆☆ ☆☆
2nd ☆☆ -1
3rd -1
4th -1

Q15 : It seems like the distance raced in In-store Interruption Versus Battles is different every time. Why?

Race distance = (basic distance raced) + (additional distance based on the number of players) + (randomly added bonus distance)

・Basic distance raced
Condition 1) No one is using a card. 8. 0 km
Condition 2) All players have fewer than 20 gauges. 10. 0 km

Q16 : I won first place in the In-store Interruption Versus Battle and I was taken to the Game Mode Selection Screen. Why?

Whoever reaches first place in the In-store Interruption Versus Battle survives and gets to play one more game.
